Café · Paddington, Sydney
Paddington Grind
A 25-year-old neighbourhood café on Oxford Street whose site had one job: get the menu, hours and directions in front of people on their phones.
The business
Paddington Grind has served breakfast, coffee and lunch at 339 Oxford Street for 25 years. It is pet friendly, has outdoor seating, and a lot of its online visitors are nearby, deciding where to eat.
What it needed
Most people arrive from Google Maps on a phone, so the site had to load fast and answer three questions in one tap: what's on the menu, are you open, and how do I get there.
What we built
- A mobile-first home page with the menu, opening hours and directions one tap away
- A full menu page plus a downloadable PDF menu
- Pages for the coffee, the space and the café's story
- Order-ahead details and click-to-call
- Opening hours shown to visitors and supplied to Google
Under the hood
Lightweight hand-coded pages built for phones first. Café structured data gives Google the address, opening hours, pet-friendly and outdoor seating details, which helps the right information show up in search and Maps.
